Consortium Aurora Borealis has prepared an exciting revised concert programme to offer our audience! The original plan was to present “An Elizabethan Garland: Courtly Ayres and Dances”, to be performed in costume on Saturday, November 18. However, Covid unfortunately struck, so that the original programme has now been rescheduled for Saturday, September 28, 2024, the first available opening.

We are thrilled to be embarking on our 45^th Anniversary Concert Season this Fall, and wish to share our tremendous excitement with you! You will find several deliberate references to years past, as we seek to relive some of those earlier moments of joy. As usual, we have crafted seven varied concerts for you, presenting both old favourites and new discoveries.

Consortium Aurora Borealis is very pleased to conclude the 44^th season with its annual all-Baroque concert on an Italian theme. We celebrate the golden age of Italian string music through a programme of beauteous sonatas for one and two violins from the High Baroque, an era very dear to my heart!

Be transported to the drawing rooms of Europe, as Consortium Aurora Borealis presents “The Captivating Flute’, a concert in which Doris Dungan, our featured artist, will shine in a programme of elegant late-Classic chamber music for flute and strings. She is joined by violinist Katie Stevens, violists Patrick Horn and Christopher Stork, and cellist Marc Palmquist.

Consortium Aurora Borealis heralds the New Year with ‘Café Paris’, an engaging concert by the popular Martin Blanchet Jazz Quintet, whose mellow moods will warm your spirits on a cold winter night! Their presentations delve into many different musical genres, from jazz to classical, with touches of world music.

Consortium Aurora Borealis is thrilled to welcome back award-winning pianist Angela Park for her third appearance in our concert series! We were overwhelmingly impressed with her performance in the Mercer-Park cello-piano duo and with Juno-winning Ensemble Made in Canada in 2014 and 2015.

Consortium Aurora Borealis is thrilled to be back with a live concert from our favourite stylistic period! “Count, Duke, Prince, King” presents elegant Baroque chamber music from the courts of eighteenth-century Germany for flute, oboe, violin, cello, and harpsichord, written by significant composers who were in the employ of aristocrats and royalty.

Consortium Aurora Borealis is truly thrilled to announce the second live concert of our 44th season, as we return to our beloved pre-Covid performing venue, the beautiful, historic St. Paul’s United Church, with its excellent acoustics. For this occasion, we are happy to introduce two passionate cello virtuosos from Toronto who will amaze you with their artistry and versatility.

A very warm welcome to our 44th Season, and to “Romantic Gestures”, a concert celebrating Scandinavia, with special guest artists. Ever-popular, charismatic violinist Jeremy Bell returns to Consortium for the 15th time! He is joined by pianist Shoshana Telner, with whom he has had a rewarding working relationship for the past seven years. They will entrance you with their virtuosity and musicality.
