We emphasize the importance of live-music in our recording driven technology age. We bring artists and audience together in a warm, supportive, relaxing ambiance, and seek to attract younger members. People are aware of our popularity, the delightful music presented, the vitality and excellence manifested in our performances, and the enthusiasm always displayed by our audiences!
Accessible and Affordable
We are committed to making classical music accessible to everyone through small, friendly, and engaging concerts. Our audience includes a very diverse group of people from all ages and walks of life from students through to seniors – including some out-of-town visitors (most notably from England). Our concerts are very reasonably priced, see our admissions page for more information.
From Baroque and Beyond. Starting as Northwestern Ontario’s premier early music group performing music from the Baroque era, we have expanded our repertoire to cover many eras in classical music. We have even featured modern arrangements of historic pieces done by local composers. We have even commissioned works like La Folia by Patrick Horn, local musician and composer.
Our goal is to both entertain and educate. Before every concert we have a presentation from a musician or other authority on the subject. These short presentations are incredibly informative and often highlight specific themes or other elements to look for in the music. They also provide awareness of historical context, styles, and genres and history of the composer and compositions.
Up Close with the Artists
The majority of our concerts feature musicians from the TBSO. Our concerts are an amazing opportunity to see these musicians perform up close and personal in a very intimate and close setting. Often many of the musicians are happy to talk to members of the audience and answer a few questions during the intermission or after the concert.
Local Musicians and More
Our concerts almost exclusively feature local musicians; however, we sometimes get very talented people from Toronto and even the USA to come and perform. Out mission is to help improve the quality of life in our community with high-quality, professional performances that are seldom heard in our area.
